Flow

Flow means people dive into a topic, forget everything around them and fully focus on the here and now. During a flow they usually lose the sense of time and forget to take breaks. They are concentrated and motivated.

A flow is characterised by just the right level of difficulty. It means being just right outside the comfort zone. The tasks are neither stressful nor boring.

It is not possible to create a perfect flow for all coworkers. But you can observe their body language, their questions and level of attention. So we can continuously get better at dealing with coworkers and their needs. Here are a few points you should look at:

One study shows, the typical office worker is interrupted or switches tasks, on average, every 3 minutes and 5 seconds. And it can take 23 minutes and 15 seconds just to get back to where they left off. Because of unnecessary, unwanted, and completely unproductive interruptions, between 40 and 60 percent of the working time was completely wasted.
